Abstract
1318147 Welding by fusion NII PO ZAVARYAVANE 13 April 1971 9300/71 Heading B3R [Also in Division H2] In inert gas-shielded arc welding employing two independent arcs simultaneously, one of the arcs is maintained by an output derived by first half-wave rectification circuitry from the positive half-cycles of a three-phase A.C. supply and the other arc is maintained by an output derived by second half-wave rectification circuitry from the negative half-cycles of said supply. Secondary windings I-III of a threephase transformer are connected via first and second half-wave circuitry diodes 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 5, 51; 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to separate electrodes 15, 16, via coil 10, 11, and to a workpiece table 14. Respective electrode wires of different diameters may be used. Switch means may be provided to rapidly combine the first and second half-wave circuitry to provide full-wave rectification for single arc operation with only one electrode.
