Abstract

1317611 Casting layered plates RICOH K K 2 June 1970 [10 June 1969 (3)] 26538/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division G2] A cover-plate for placing over an original in an electro-photographic copier is made by pouring first and second layers 43a, 43b of rubber or resin into a mould 41 having a rim 41b which prevents the first layer 43a spreading to the surface of the second layer 43b. Preferably layer 43a is a white and light reflective for contacting the original and layer 43b is coloured. Stub shafts (9, 10, Fig. 10, not shown), may be embedded in or moulded integrally with the plate for hinging it to the copier. A metal sheet (13, Fig. 8, not shown), may be embedded in the plate during moulding and then bent to form a handle (8a).
