Abstract

1317448 Bags BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO Ltd 11 Jan 1971 [24 Jan 1970] 3535/70 Heading A4G [Also in Division B7] In a pannier arrangement for two-wheeled vehicles, a pannier comprises an inner bag disposed within an outer bag of substantially the same size, and receives a supporting loop 7 of a metallic framework 6, which is securable to such a vehicle, between the inner and outer bags. In the preferred embodiment a closed rectangular bag is made from a flexible tubular part 1, made from waterproof material such as fabric reinforced P.V.C., and end pieces 2,3. As shown in Fig. 3 the loop 7 is inserted through a slit 4 and the pannier is formed by doubling the closed bag inside itself. A flap 10 secures the pannier in position on the framework, and the pannier is closed by a lid 10. The end pieces 2,3 may be reinforced by rigid material such as fibre board, and the inner and outer bags may be made separately and sewn together, with the outer bag being made from more rigid material than the inner bag. The framework 6 is intended to be attached to the rear mudguard of a two wheeled vehicle, and to carry two panniers, one on each side of such a vehicle.
