Abstract

1317201 Gas filter KERNFORSCHUNG mbH GES FUER 21 July 1970 [6 Aug 1969] 35341/70 Heading BIT A gas filter assembly for removing radioactive or poisonous dusts from gases comprises a housing 1 containing two filter elements 2, 3, the housing being arranged such that gas to be filtered enters at 4, passes downwardly through first filter element 2 and then upwardly through second filter element 3 before leaving the housing at 5. The housing has a trough-shaped base 10 for collection of dust, the base having inlet and outlet water nozzles 11 and 12 respectively for washing the dust from the base. The filter elements are changed through hermetically sealable openings 8 and 9. In order to detect leakages around the edges of the filters a row of atomizing nozzles 15 are provided between the filters and are connected to an oil vapour generator 18. A leakage of oil may be detected through window 19 in the housing.
