Abstract

1316336 Moulding bituminous material NYNAS-PETROLEUM AB 22 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 50200/70 Heading B5A In a method of producing a package of bituminous material, a layer of the latter in molten form is cooled such that a crust is formed on its surface while the interior remains at a higher temperature than the crust, the crust being of such thickness that it is not remelted by heat emanating from the interior, the thus cooled layer being then wrapped in packaging material. Oxidized asphalt in molten form is fed on to a steel belt 2, water-cooled by a device 3, and passes on to a steel belt 5 water cooled by a device 6. The cooled web is delivered to cutting and packaging machines. The molten material may be formed into strips 9 by ribs 8 on the belt 2 and subsequently cut into slabs which are wrapped in kraft paper.
