Abstract

1316143 Incinerators HEAD WRIGHTSON & CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 6183/70 Heading F4B In an incinerator plant, waste gases from an evaporatively cooled furnace 1 are passed through the tubes of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger 19 before reaching dust removal equipment 16. Tertiary air may be fed to the gases from nozzles 27 directed towards a baffle 29 so that the gases are cooled and some dust removed before the heat exchanger 19. The tertiary air is supplied from the fan supplying combustion air to the furnace, and the tertiary air flow is cut off if the temperature of the gases drops. Water flowing through the shell of the heat exchanger is supplied from the steam drum 9 of a recirculation loop of the kind described in Specification 1,257,571 supplying the walls of the furnace, and soot blowers 24 are arranged at the entry to the heat exchanger.
