Abstract

1316004 Bridge bearings; resilient mountings E R FYFE 19 April 1971 [13 April 1970] 26744/71 Headings F2A and F2S A bridge bearing has a member 13 engaging the bridge and an elastomeric layer 15 interposed between the bearing member 13 and the bearing support 11, there being means provided between the bearing member and support for resisting shearing of the elastomeric layer while allowing pivoting of the bearing member. In one embodiment a pin 16 is provided integral with a plate 14 on which the elastomeric layer is located. The pin has a spherical head which engages in a cylindrical bore in the bearing member. Pads of low friction material 21, 23 may be provided between the bearing member and the bridge, and lubricant recesses may be provided in their surfaces. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) shearing of the elastomeric layer is resisted by a cylindrical collar (29) of the bearing member engaging the edge of the plate 14.
