1315993 Lirikwork BAYLISS PRECISION COMPONENTS Ltd 1 July 1971 [17 July 1970] 34859/70 Heading F2K In a temperature responsive ventilator control, a ventilator operating arm 13 is pivotally mounted at 12 on a wax-filled cylinder 6 having a piston 5 and rod 4 slidably located therein and resiliently biased via a return spring 8 into contact with the wax, the piston-rod 4 carrying a guide-pin 7 slidably located in a tube slot 10 and engaging in a "Y"-shaped slot 14 in the arm 13, the arrangement being such that expansion or contraction of the wax in response to temperature changes, with resulting corresponding movement of the piston and rod, 5, 4, pivotally moves the arm 13 up or down until one or other of the forked slot channels 14b of the "Y"-slot are aligned with the cylinder 6 whereby further movement of the piston-rod 4 and pin 7 simply acts along the aligned slot without moving the arm 13, the pin-and-slot connection simply acting as a lost-motion device whereby the ventilator control is only operative over a predetermined temperature range between specified limits dictated by the pin-and-slot connection. Limit stop-pins 16 ensure correct alignment of the slot channels 14b at the extreme movements of the arm 13.
