Abstract

1315279 2 - (5<SP>1</SP> - Benzofuranyl) - 1,3 - dioxolanes DELALANDE SA 20 Jan 1972 [29 Jan 1971] 2741/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds of Formula I and the bromomethylates thereof wherein R 1 and R 2 are each C 1-4 alkyl or R 1 and R 2 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a piperidino, pyrrolidino, hexamethyleneimino or morpholine ring are prepared by reaction of a compound of Formula II with a secondary amine R 1 NHR 2 and optionally further reacted with methyl bromide to give the bromomethylate. The starting material of Formula II is prepared by reaction of epibromohydrin with the 5<SP>1</SP>-benzofuranyl methyl ketone. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms for oral or parenteral administration and having hypotensive and peripheral vasodilatory activity comprise an above novel compound and a carrier therefor.
