1315264 Waste disposal STANDARD PRODUCTS CO 19 April 1971 24528/71 Heading C1C A waste disposal system for use with a power source such as an internal combustion engine in which heated gases are generated and which includes an exhaust system comprising exhaust ports, an exhaust manifold and an exhaust pipe for disposing of said heated gases, the disposal system including a waste tank for holding liquid waste material, means for vaporizing the liquid material, conduit means for connecting the vaporizing means to the tank to feed liquid from the tank to the vaporizing means and conduit means for connecting the vaporizing means to the exhaust system to discharge vapour thereinto, the vaporizing means having passages therethrough for coupling to the exhaust ports and to the manifold and providing heat exchange surfaces between the heated gases and the liquid. The vaporizing means is preferably in the form of a boiler, tubes through which form the passages. A suitable system is shown in Fig. 1. In this system, waste material deposited in the tank 26 is converted into a partially purified solution. This liquid when it has risen to the level of filter 31 is pumped to boiler unit 40, which unit is positioned between internal combustion engine 10 and exhaust manifold 12. When the engine is running, hot exhaust gases are discharged directly into the passages 50 (Fig. 4, not shown) thus vaporizing the liquid in the boiler, the vapours being passed along tube 60 for discharge into the exhaust pipe 14. When the level of waste liquid falls below filter 31, and so as to prevent boiler unit 40 reaching excessive temperatures a control valve 64 is actuated, and cooling water inlet 22 is placed in communication with the unit 40. Alternatively when the liquid level in tank 26 is below the filter, air may be flowed through boiler unit 40. This cools the unit and also facilitates burning of any deposited solid waste material from within the unit 40.
