Abstract

1315140 Steam generator COMBUSTION ENG Inc 21 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 60603/70 Heading F4A In a vapour generating unit 10, heating liquid enters at inlet nozzle 30 passing to an outlet nozzle 32 via tubes 28. Primary and secondary fluid inlets 36, 38 allow entry of vaporizable fluid to the vapour generating chamber 26. Hot fluid enters a preheat section at the inlet 36, baffles 40, 48, 40 facilitating maximum heat transference. Similarly the vapour on reaching a superheat section encounters baffles 60, 44 which impedes vapour movement before the superheated vapour exits at an outlet nozzle 34. Cooler fluid enters the chamber 26 at the nozzle 38 and falls through a vapour filled volume 52 before reaching the preheat section. A baffle 61 minimizes the thermal shock to the shell 12. Regulators (76) and check valves (72, 74), Fig. 2 (not shown), control the ratio of the feed water which enters at the inlets 36, 38. Additional control elements (82, 84) monitor the feedwater temperature and load demand on the unit respectively.
