Abstract

1314878 Joints EDWARD WILLIAMS (HOLDINGS) Ltd 4 May 1971 [5 May 1970] 21489/70 Addition to 1199514 Heading A4H [Also in Divisions E2 and F2.] The joint according to the main Specification in which two members, at least one of which is tubular, are clamped by a spigot and screw, is modified in that a tongue 7 on the spigot 2 is slidably received in a groove 8 in the member 1. As shown, the lateral cross-sections of the tongue and groove are complementary and preferably of back-to-back dovetail configuration. Alternatively they may be of simple dovetail or T-shaped cross-section. When the screw 6 is tightened to clamp the tube 3 to the spigot 2, the undercut portion of the tongue 7 is urged against the walls of the groove 8 to clamp the spigot in position on the member 1. The member 1 may be an extruded bar or tube.
