Abstract

1314397 Windscreens ASAHI GLASS CO Ltd 8 Dec 1970 [9 Dec 1969] 58328/70 Heading B7J [Also in Divisions C1 and H4] A window glass, e.g. the front or rear window of a motor-car, incorporates a V.H.F. aerial for F.M. waves, and an M.F. aerial for A.M. waves. The aerials may comprise either fine wires which are located in a thermoplastic interlayer between two glass sheets, or conductive bands on the surface of a glass sheet. Said bands may contain either metallic silver or, if transparency is desired, a suitable conductive oxide or be made of conductive solder. As described, an M.F. aerial 12 and a V.H.F. aerial 13 are provided on a windscreen 11 as shown in Fig. 2. The aerials are connected by respective leads to a changeover switch 15 of a receiver 14. In another embodiment, a V.H.F. aerial is formed by two conductors extending in parallel up the centre of a window, and an M.F. aerial is formed by two conductors extending towards the respective sides of the window from the centre, along the lower edge thereof, and extending upwards along said sides (Fig. 3, not shown).
