1314210 Surface sizing SCHILL & SEILACHER 27 Nov 1970 [20 Feb 1970] 56598/70 Heading D2B [Also in Division C3] A method of surface sizing a sheet of "paper or cardboard" comprises treating the sheet with a sizing agent composed of a watersoluble (sodium) salt of a maleic anhydridestyrene copolymer together with an aqueous dispersion of "waxes" (the latter term including natural and synthetic hydrocarbons, (e.g. paraffin) higher fatty acids (e.g. stearic acid) and their derivatives, fatty alcohols and low molecular weight polyolefines). The synergistic effect of the copolymer and the dispersion of waxes confers favourable properties of texture, electrical conductivity and flat posture.
