Abstract

1313735 Electrography ENERGY CONVERSION DEVICES Inc 20 May 1970 [28 May 1969] 24407/70 Heading G2H A conductivity image is produced in the outer layer 4, of a drum 2, composed of an ovonic memory material which may be switched from a stable conductive state to a stable non-conductive state by the application of energy pulses of duration less that 10 microsecs and reconverted to its conductive state by energy pulses of duration longer than 1 millisec. Latent indicia images may be produced by means of a pulsed laser 20, modulated by a scanning photo-densitometer, and a drum scanning means 21; and erased by heating means 5. The images are developed electrophoretically or electrolytically using an applicator pad in the form of a roll 26, Fig.1 or a bath (53) Fig.2 (not shown). Electro-phoretically developed images are transferred to a web 14 and the development process repeated using the same or fresh latent images. A printing plate may be produced by electro-plating layer 4.
