Abstract

1313720 Crystalline trisodium D-fructose 1,6- diphosphoric acid octahydrate BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 13 Dec 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 57695/71 Heading C2P The invention comprises crystalline trisodium D-fructose-1,6-diphosphoric acid octahydrate. The crystalline product is obtained by adjusting a dilute aqueous solution of D-fructose 1,6- diphosphoric acid trisodium salt to a pH value of between 4À5 and 6-5, mixing at 15‹ to 45‹ C. with an alkanol having up to 3 carbon atoms, preferably ethanol, until turbidity appears, cooling until crystal formation commences, mixing with a further amount of said alkanol, the total amount of added alkanol being up to 3 times the volume of the initial aqueous solution, and further cooling the solution to complete the crystal formation. For adjusting the pH of the starting solution it is preferred to use a NaOH solution or acetic acid. The final crystalline product may be dried, preferably at a temperature not exceeding 30‹ C. and preferably without the use of a strong drying agent.
