Abstract

1313692 Variable speed gears BORGWARNER CORP 28 April 1970 [5 June 1969 21 Oct 1969] 20427/70 Heading F2D A vehicle transmission (e.g. in a four-wheeldrive vehicle between the main gear-box and the propeller shafts to the front and rear driving axles) includes a bevel gear limited-slip differential 34 driven (e.g. belt or chain driven) from an input shaft 23 parallel to the output shafts 37, 38 of the differential. Journalled on the shaft 23 there may be gears 93, 94 selectively clutchable thereto by a clutch 90. Alternatively there may be a sun-ring planetary gearset, Fig. 3 (not shown), with its sun gear (60) fixed to the shaft 23 and its planet carrier (62) fixed to a gear (67) driving a belt 36.
