Abstract

1313635 Electron multipliers LITTON INDUSTRIES Inc 26 Jan 1972 [15 March 1971] 3758/72 Heading H1D A method of producing a thin film of material on a solid surface, e.g. forming the end face electrodes of a micro-channel electron multiplier, comprises forming a self-supporting layer of lacquer on an auxiliary frame such as by forming a film of lacquer on water and lowering the level of water until the film is deposited on the frame, transferring the lacquer film on to the end face of the electron multiplier, depositing a layer of aluminium by vapour deposition on top of the lacquer, then heating the double layer of aluminium and lacquer until most of the latter is evaporated and the aluminium is on the end face.
