Abstract

1312908 Lampshades J BUCKWALD 23 Nov 1971 [19 Feb 1971] 54373/71 Heading F4R A lamp-shade is formed of a number of paper sheets joined together by a number of radially spaced lines of adhesive 3, 4 parallel to an axis 6 about which the joined sheets can be arranged to form a body of revolution, wherein lines of adhesive 3 joining the sheet on one side to another sheet alternate in a radial sense with lines of adhesive 4 on the other side thereof joining it to a sheet on the other side and the distance between consecutive lines of adhesive 3, 4 increases with increasing distance of the lines from the axis 6. Preferably the two adhesive lines nearest the axis are not more than 5 mm. apart and the edge 5 of the sheets furthest from the axis is 1-2 mm. from the outermost line of adhesive. When formed as a body of revolution the end-sheets may be clipped together and the ducts formed between adjacent sheets, e.g. rhomboid in cross-section, are parallel to the axis and permit cooling of the light source by an air flow therethrough. The lamp-shade may be folded for storing or opened in the manner of Christmas decorations.
