Abstract
1312409 Forging presses GFM GES FUR FERTIGUNGSTECHNIK UND MASCHINENBAUAG 6 Sept 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 41416/71 Heading B3H A high-speed forging press comprises a pair of oppositely acting punches 2 actuated hydraulically for a working stroke and provided with mechanical stroke adjustment devices. The adjustment devices each comprise two or four power screws 15 each engaged with a nut 12 force-fitted in a piston 10. The nut has external splines 13 engaged with a fixed flange 14 to prevent rotation of the piston. The screws are driven by a worm gear train 16 driven in unison with the gear trains of the other screw or screws of each device. The end of each screw has a convex face 17 engaged in a concave recess in a pad 18 mounted with a slight lateral play in the punch. The pistons 10 each have a short stroke and perform a large number of strokes per minute. The workpiece is held by jaws (5), Fig. 2 (not shown), of gripping head (4) and also supported by devices (6) on each side of the press.
