Abstract

1310903 Exposure devices; electro-photographic copiers XEROX CORP 26 March 1969 [3 April 1969] 14651/70 Headings G2A and G2H [Also in Division F4] A system for illuminating a document D on the platen of an exposure device such as an electrophotographic copying machine comprises at least two elongated light sources L1, L2 disposed outside a pair of opposite boundaries of the exposure aperture, each source having a reflector R1, R2 including a planar portion. Preferably four sources L1-L4 are arranged parallel to the respective boundaries of the aperture and each reflector consists of a right-circular cylindrical portion Ra and three planar portions Rb-Rd. The sources, which may be xenon flash tubes, are displaced from the axes of the respective cylindrical reflector portions by amounts corresponding to the radii of the tubes.
