1310560 Rollers VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE AG 23 July 1970 [25 July 1969] 35813/70 Heading B3M [Also in Division F2] A roller for metal casting, bending or rolling consists of short heat and wear resistant dovetailed segments 3, 12 secured end to end in longitudinal or circumferential grooves 2, 11 in the surface of a cylindrical core 1, with tapering clearance gaps 16 between adjacent segments In Figs. 1 and 2 the segments are held in longitudinal grooves 2 against a central positioning ring 8 by bolts 9 passed through aligned holes 5 in the individual segments, while in Figs. 4 and 6 they are inserted into circumferential grooves 11 through a longitudinal gap 14 which is close by a locking bar 15 to secure the segments in position. For extreme operating conditions the segments may be made of a metal ceramic, e.g. molybdenum and zirconium oxide.
