Abstract
1310530 Tension compression and hardness testing apparatus W D CRAIG 19 April 1971 [4 Dec 1969] 59264/69 Heading G1S In apparatus for tension, compression, and hardness testing of materials, a loading jack 5 on a base 1 acts on one end A of a lever 3 pivoted at C to a post 2 on the base 1, specimen loading elements 8, 14 being attached to the lever :respectively at D, intermediate the pivot C and the end A, and at the other end B of the lever, the elements 8, 14 co-operating with specimen supports 10, 13 on the base 1. A load indicator, such as a metal proving ring 6 with a dial gauge 7 is responsive to the load applied by the jack 5. The hydraulic pressure applied to the jack may also be used to provide a measure of the applied load. A cylindrical head 14 for compression test and an indenting tool for hardness tests may be interchangeably mounted on the lever at its end B.
