Abstract

1310522 Winding yarn packages; flyers JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd 29 April 1970 [18 March 1969] 20634/70 Headings D1D and D1J A pivoted yarn guide member 11 of the kind that guides material to be wound onto the surface of a package (not shown) and has a yarn guide 15 at one end and a portion 26 at the other end that engages and pivots about a spindle 20, is characterized in that (a) the portion 26 engaging the spindle has a length, measured in the direction of the axis of the spindle 20, that is less than the length of the member 11 and (b) the member 11 as a whole is so constructed that at least part of it, including the end formed with the guide 15, can be removed without removing the spindle 20. The portion 26 may be a snap-on fit on the spindle 20. The spindle 20 may be part of a flyer and a spring 22 biasses the guide 15 towards the yarn package. In a modified construction the arm 11 is in two parts, the guide 15 being on a first part that is removably secured to a second part secured to the spindle 20. In an alternative embodiment the package rotates and the spindle 20 is held against rotary motion.
