Abstract

1309535 Heating sealed containers CONSOLIDATED FOODS CORP 1 July 1971 [27 July 1970] 30911/71 Heading A2D [Also in Division F4] In apparatus for the continuous heating to ambient temperatures of the contents of sealed containers filled with carbonated beverages to avoid condensation or for heating carbonated beer to pasteurization temperatures in sealed containers 23, the containers pass over an elongated dry heat source 26 on an endless perforated conveyor belt 12, 13 or on a vibratory conveyor, Fig. 6, so that the emitted heat impinges on the undersides of the containers. The heating source may utilise radiation from an upper wall 29 of an infrared heater generated by burners 31 or flames from burners may directly contact the undersides of the containers. The containers, which may be of metal or glass, are transferred directly to and from the conveyor by separate infeed and discharge conveyors, not shown.
