1308852 Divan bases CRESTOL BEDDING CO Ltd 15 Oct 1971 [8 March 1971] 6292/71 Headings A4H and A4J A divan base member is formed in two sections A, B, each section being formed from a single plastics sheet, e.g. of acrylonitrile but adiene styrene, which has been press or vacuum moulded, each section comprising two side walls 12 and an end wall 13 that are downwardly and inwardly inclined and have at their upper edges outwardly turned flanges 14 and inverted U channels 15 to support and locate a mattress, and a mattress supporting platform 16 coplaner with flanges 14 and having downwardly extending outwardly inclined side walls 17 and end walls 18, 19, the side walls 12 and 17 together forming base channels 21 and the end walls 13 and 18 together forming base channels 22, the bases of these channels 21, 22 co-operating when the two sections are secured together, to define an uninterrupted base flange. The ends walls 19 have outwardly turned flanges 23, at their lower ends, and the two sections A, B are detachably secured by studs and straps 24 securing the flanges 23, 14 where they overlap. The platforms 16 and flanges 14 may have strengthening and ventilating channels 25 and recesses 26, walls 17, 18, 19 may have strengthening channels 27, and walls 13 may have ventilating holes 30. The channel 15 of section B may have recesses 28 for the legs of a head board. When sections A, B are disconnected they can be rested as shown in Fig.7. In a modification, the base member is formed in one piece, has a single mattress supporting platform, and is restable within a similar base member.
