Abstract

1308603 Coating particles with metal BALLOTINI EUROPE (DEUTSCHLAND) GmbH 3 March 1970 [13 March 1969 1 Jan 1970] 13345/69 and 41/70 Heading C7F [Also in Divisions B2 and C1] Particles of e.g. glass, quartz, ceramic or plastics, are coated with metal at mutually spaced points over their entire surface. The metal may be Ag, Sn, Cu, Cr, Al, bronze, Au, Ni, Fe, Co, Rh, Pt, Pd or Sn-Sb alloy. The metal may be applied by spraying a mixture of particles and metal powder, spraying the metal onto falling particles, applying the metal dispersed in a binder; by vapour deposition, by the solidification of molten metal or decomposition of a metal compound in liquid or gaseous form. The particles may be first coated with a masking material or an adhesive at spaced points. The metal coating may be chemically modified e. g. aluminium may be oxidized.
