Abstract

In order to form lightweight metallic elements as filling material for mouldings having closed or open-pore cavities, plastic granules are metallised on the surface up to a coating thickness of about 0.05 mm first by wet-chemical processes and subsequently by electroplating. The metallised plastic granules are pyrolysed by heating at about 400 DEG C and then used as an inclusion material for the formation of lightweight mouldings by casting liquid metal around them or by sintering them at temperatures below the melting point. <IMAGE>
