Abstract

1308517 Making wire MAGYAR ALUMINIUMIPARI TROSZT and FEMIPARI KUTATO INTEZET 4 March 1970 [4 March 1969] 10462/70 Headings B3A and B3V An electrical wire made from at least 99% aluminium is formed by hot forming rod wire, cold drawing the rod wire at a temperature below 100‹ C. to the final dimensions of the wire so that 60-98% plastic deformation relating to its diameter is achieved, and thermally processing the wire at a temperature between 80- 220‹ C. An initial heating of the starting material at temperatures between 350-550‹ C. may be effected after which the material is cooled down slowly to its initial forming temperature. The hot forming of the rod wire is terminated at a temperature below 250‹ C. whereupon the rod wire is rapidly cooled to below 150‹ C. The final thermal processing can be effected on a conveyor extending from a drawbench to cable manufacturing equipment or a warehouse and can be performed in a medium which increases the corrosion resistance of the wire.
