Abstract

1308491 Valves GURTNER SA 27 Feb 1970 [5 March 1969 20 Oct 1969 21 Oct 1969 21 Jan 1970] 9543/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A gas distributer valve unit adapted for connection to the top of a liquefied gas tank includes a liquid level indicating device, an output flow limiting valve and an output pressure limiting device. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the device comprises a body 1 containing a liquid level dip tube 3 and a flow limiting valve 2 the member 9 of which is pressed from its seat 14 by spring 10; when the output exceeds a predetermined limit, the pressure differential across throttling passage A causes member 9 to seat. A leak passage B allows reopening of the valve 2. The pressure limiting device includes a body part 6, a resilient diaphragm 30 connected by a rod 36 to a valve member 37, and springs 38, 40 acting on the diaphragm in opposed directions. Spring 40 is carried between cups 41, 42 such that by screwing or unscrewing a member 43 via handle 45 the force on the diaphragm may be adjusted to set the gas pressure below the diaphragm. A pressure gauge 5 is provided to indicate the pressure upstream or downstream of valve member 37. In other embodiments (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) the means of stressing spring 40 is modified and spring 38 is replaced by a spring acting between an abutment and the underside of valve member 37. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 5 the dip tube 3 passes fully through valve member 9 and is received in a socket 88 abutting a washer 67. A spring 138 is disposed between washer 67 and valve member 37, and a valve member 92 is fixed to dip tube 3. On unscrewing the pressure limiting device 4 a spring 90 urges socket 88 upwards to seat member 92 against the lower edge 93 of the base member 101. In Fig. 6, the output flow limiting valve is positioned in the outlet nozzle 33, and comprises a square section member 94 (Fig. 7, not shown) with a blind bore 95 urged from a through bored socket 97 by a spring 96. On excess pressure downstream member 94 slides to abut socket 97 so closing the outlet.
