Abstract

1307815 Mould linings KINGSCLIFFE SUPER-REFRACTORIES Ltd 18 Feb 1970 [1 March 1969 27 Jan 1970] 11047/69 and 3817/70 Heading B3F [Also in Division C3] Ingot mould surfaces, e.g. their bottom plates and stools, are protected against erosion by applying thereto a coating comprising (a) an alkali metal dihydrogen orthophosphate solution containing lithium ions, and (b) a refractory material in powder form (see Division C3 for details of materials). The coating may be deposited on the surfaces to be protected from a slurry and bonded thereto at a temperature of 200-600‹ C., e.g. while the surfaces are still hot from a previous cast. The coating functions as a release agent.
