Abstract
1307029 Filling gas-filled lamps PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 Nov 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 55561/71 Heading H1F A method of manufacturing a gas filled lamp includes cooling a part 12 of the envelope 2 to below the boiling point of the filler gas by projecting a liquefied gas, having a boiling point below that of the filler gas, on to part 12 of the exterior of the envelope so that a desired quantity of filler gas is condensed within the lamp on to the cooled part of the envelope, and then sealing the envelope, as at 14. The liquefied gas e.g. nitrogen, helium or neon may be sprayed on to the envelope. The filler gas may be argon with a small amount of CH 2 Br 2 present, or more generally of argon or krypton and a halogen or halogen compound.
