Abstract

1306987 Tubes ODESSKY POLITEKHNICHESKY INSTITUT 30 Oct 1970 51636/70 Heading F2P [Also in Division D1] A hollow product, such as a flexible metal hose, is made by laying identical wires 8 of non- circular cross-section around a core 1 and then subjecting the resulting layer to plastic squeezi ng to change the profiles of the wires throughout the total depth of the layer so that the deformed wires become interlocked around the entire layer. The core 1 is then removed. In Fig. 1 the plastic squeezing is accomplished by a roller 11 and the wires 8 are initially of figure 8-shape, changing to the intermediate shape 12 and then to the final shape 10. Interlocked layers formed from wires of initially single wedge-shape and double wedge-shape are described and illustrated.
