Abstract

1328738 Making reinforcements B GEORGII 8 Oct 1971 [16 Oct 1970] 47005/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division E1] A structure comprises longitudinal rods 1, 2, 3, 4 and transverse straight rods 5, 6, 7, 8 interconnecting them wherein the transverse rods are formed by two systems of helically wound wires, each of the systems comprising at least two wires of the same shape, the wires 7, 8 of one system being wound in one direction inside the longitudinal rods on a template and the wires 5, 6 of the other system being wound in the opposite direction outside the longitudinal rods. Those wires wound inside the longitudinal rods are wound first at a station 27 and then the structure moves to a second station 28 where the outer wires are wound. Batches of longitudinal rods may be continuously welded and fed from stations 26. The number of wound wires may be 2, 3, 5 or 7. Some of the longitudinal rods may be prestressed and the rods and wires of steel or aluminium may be welded at their intersections. The structure may be rectangular or triangular in section and suitable lengths cut after completion.
