Abstract

1306936 Pipe fittings MARLEY TILE CO Ltd 28 May 1970 [20 June 1969] 31373/69 Heading F2G In a soil pipe stack, a pipe fitting is provided having a central portion 3 of greater diameter than the socket 1 and spigot 2 at its ends and has shoulders 4, 5 of which the lowermost is inclined to be self-cleansing. It is intended that the enlarged diameter will promote turbulent flow within the central portion so preventing the build-up of a negative pressure in the stack which would syphon water from the traps of one or more items of sanitary equipment connected to the portion 3. Preferably the fitting is made from two injection moulded, synthetic resin parts connected by cementing or solvent welding. The fitting has boss upstands 7 which may be unperforated or perforated. In the latter case the upstands may have a cover (not shown) or be connected to the other sanitary equipment by a pipe socket 8. The fitting may be used as shown with a "collar boss" fitting as disclosed in Specification 1,103,023 and such a combination may be incorporated in a single stack system as disclosed in Specification 1271971, in which each water trap is connected to the stack by a branch pipe and ventilator pipe.
