Abstract

1306814 Laminated products BAYER AG 19 Feb 1970 [21 Feb 1969] 7982/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] A synthetic leather comprises a porous sheet bonded on to a textile support. The porous sheet is made from an optionally porous, thermoplastic synthetic resin in the form of a powder having an average particle size of from 0À05 to 0À1 mm. by addition thereof to an aqueous dispersion or a solution in an organic solvent of a film-forming cross-linkable, synthetic resin, the film-forming resin, if it melts at all, melting at a temperature at least 50‹ C. above the melting point of the thermoplastic resin, the thermoplastic resin being added in a quantity of from 5 to 50% by weight, based on the solids content of the dispersion or solution, and the organic solvent or the water of the aq. dispersion being a non-solvent for the thermoplastic resin; the resulting mixture is formed into a sheet; and the sheet is subsequently heated to a temperature of from 80‹. to 180‹ C., the organic solvent or water being removed by evaporation. In the examples the textile supports were a roughened and shorn cotton velour fabric, a knitted polyamide velour fabric, a stable fibre fleece consisting of a mixture of fibres of polyamide, regenerated cellulose and polyacrylonitrile, and a spinning fleece of polyamide respectively. The thermoplastic resin may be a polyurethane, polyolefine, polyamide or a partially saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer. The crosslinkable resin may be a polyurethane, polyamide or a polyacrylate.
