Abstract
1306760 Electric couplings SIEMENS AG 25 Nov 1971 [30 Nov 1970] 54702/71 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] A multiple connector plate comprises a carrier plate of insulating material, having a plurality of grooves on each major surface, the grooves on one surface running at right angles to those on the other surface, bus-bars supplied with soldering lugs at right angles to the bar being contained in the grooves, apertures in the connector plate being provided to accommodate the soldering lugs and connecting elements of components mounted on the plate, the bus-bars and grooves or apertures being arranged such that when a connecting element and a soldering lug are present in an aperture they press against one another. Grooves 4-7, Fig. 2, on the component side of the plate carry bus-bars 11-14 and where connections between a soldering lug and connecting element are to be made apertures, i.e. 24-27, are provided. Such an aperture 47, Fig. 6, comprises an inclined plane 54 such that when the bus-bar 52 is mounted in the groove 50 the corresponding soldering lug 53 is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the aperture. The connecting element 55 is correctly oriented in the aperture by means of a semi-cylindrical channel 48 having a flared end 49. When the element 55 is plugged into the aperture the soldering lug is partly bent back and presses against the element under stress. Grooves 18-20, Fig. 2, on the soldering side of the plate contain bus-bars 21-23 and cylindrical holes 29-32 are provided in the carrier plate for the passage of connecting elements to contact soldering lugs on said bus-bars, said soldering lugs being bent towards said cylindrical holes so as to make contact with the connecting elements. Bus-bars 11-14, Fig. 2, are connected directly, to a terminal block (not shown) and bus-bars 21-23 are connected to said block by means of L-shaped connecting strips 15-17, the shorter part of each strip passing through a flared aperture, such as aperture 33, Fig. 2 to contact under stress, a soldering lug of one of said bus-bars. Where necessary connections between at least two connecting elements of a component are provided by a bridge 81, Fig. 2, accommodated in a groove 80. The bus-bars on the soldering side of the plate are held in position during the subsequent dip soldering process by means of deformations in the insulating material at certain points along the grooves. In an alternative embodiment the grooves in the insulating material are moulded at an angle to the surface of the plate such that the soldering lugs are inclined ready for contact with the connecting elements.
