Abstract
A terminal strip device comprising a block of insulating material defining a plurality of terminal sections, each of which has opposite first and second surfaces, and a plurality of contact elements intended to be applied to, and electrically interconnect, sets of conductive wires, characterized in that the contact elements are of a known type, each having spaced fingers that define at least two conductive wire acceptance slots between them, intended for the forced entry of a segment of conductive wire under a sufficient force to elastically separate the fingers to form an imperative electrical connection with the conducting wire; the block has a plurality of bores spaced between the surfaces each intended to receive a conductive wire, and a plurality of receptacles extending from the first surface transversely to at least two adjacent bores, each receiving the slip receptacles to one of the contact elements for movement from an unattached position with the fingers spaced from the adjacent bores to allow placement of lead wires therein, to a position applied with the fingers through the adjacent bores and the grooves aligned therewith to apply conductive wires thereon, each pair of adjacent bores in each terminal strip section having one of the interconnecting contact elements; and the terminal strip includes mounting brackets intended to mount the block on a structure with the second surface spaced therefrom to allow the application of the jaws of a similar tool to pliers on the second surface and one of the contact elements in the disengaged position to allow pressing the contact element to the applied position.
