Abstract

1306635 Conveyer systems FROMME FORDERANLAGEN GmbH 13 July 1971 32816/71 Heading B7L A conveyer system, Figs. 1 and 2, comprises a main track portion 1 interconnected with a secondary track portion 3, drive means (such as a chain 5) co-operating with first engagement means (one surface of a pin 10a) of each truck 10 to drive the truck 10 along the main track portion 1, and an endless loop coupling member (chain 6) having at least two spaced engagement devices (hooks 9) co-operating with second engagement means (the opposed surface of pin 10a) of each truck 10 when the truck is on or approaching the secondary track portion 3; so arranged that when the drive means 5, engaged with the first engagement means of the pin 10a of a first truck, drives the truck along the main track portion 1 towards and on to the secondary track portion 3, the secondary engagement means of the pin 10a of the first truck engages one of the engagement devices 9 to put the endless loop coupling member 6 into circulating motion, the second engagement means of the pin 10a of a following truck engages another one of the engagement devices 9 and the first engagement means of the pin 10a of the first truck becomes disengaged from the drive means 5. Preferably the endless loop coupling member 6 extends at least a truck length along the main track portion 1 and at least a truck length along the secondary track portion 3, on either side of their interconnection at track switch 2. Successive engagement devices 9 are preferably spaced along the endless member 6 by at least a truck length. The drive means 5 may be disposed underground as shown or may be an overhead driving chain (26) in an overhead conveyer system, Figs. 4-6 (not shown).
