Abstract

1306272 Hydrostatic braking DAIMLERBENZ AG 13 Feb 1970 [15 Feb 1969] 7084/70 Heading F2E A vehicle has a hydrostatic pump 1 driven by one or more wheels 2 and acting as a braking means and to permit of different braking forces being obtained, regulating or control devices are provided by which the delivery of the pump 2 and/or the pressure in the pump circuit is selectable by means of an externally actuated member. As shown in Fig. 1 the pump circuit is set for constant pressure by a pressure limiting valve 3 and the stroke of the pump 2 is adjustable; the circuit also includes a cooler 4. As seen in Fig. 4 (not shown) the pump circuit includes an adjustable pressure limiting valve (8) whilst the stroke of the pump (7) is non- adjustable; a similar arrangement is seen in Fig. 7 (not shown) but a by-pass (9) is provided across the pump the by-pass including a valve (11) responsive to pressure downstream of an orifice (10). As shown in Fig. 10, the pump circuit includes an adjustable pressure limiting valve 13 and the stroke of the pump 12 is adjustable by a servo arrangement which regulates the delivery in dependence on the pressure upstream and downstream of an orifice 15; the servo arrangement is fed by a pump 17 and the servo pressure is applied via a control piston 19 to a servo piston 20 connected to stroke-adjusting means of the pump 12. The pump 12 can be set at zero stroke by an electrical switch 23. As seen in Fig. 13 (not shown) simultaneous variation of the delivery pressure and in dependence thereon the stroke of the pump is obtained by a servo arrangement. As seen in Fig. 16 (not shown) the pressure in the pump circuit is selected and a servo-arrangement adjusts the stroke of the pump to give constant power at the selected pressure. Monitoring or warning devices are provided which are operated in dependence on the temperature in the hydraulic circuit.
