Abstract

1306111 Metering pump BENZ & HILGERS GmbH 25 March 1970 [26 April 1969] 14522/70 Heading F1A A metering pump for plastic material, e.g. butter, comprises a piston 8 reciprocable within a cylinder 4 rotated in a casing 3 about a transverse axis by a drive shaft 2, a pair of spaced annular seals 18, 19 being placed on the shaft 2 between the cylinder 4 and the drive means, so that plastic material from the cylinder 4 or lubricant from the drive means leaking past the seals 18, 19 accumulates in the intermediate space 21 from which it can be removed via radial openings 22 in the pump casing 3. The casing 3 has diametrically opposed inlet and outlet openings 15, 16 and the piston is reciprocated as the cylinder rotates by means of a pin 9 passing through an opening 10 in the cylinder 4 and attached to a lever 11 rotatable by means of rollers 12 engaging a fixed endless cam track 13. The stroke of the piston is limited and varied by means of an axially movable shaft 3 having a frusto-conical end 6 engageable with the piston.
