Abstract

1304078 Yarn texturing nozzle SOC RHODIACETA 15 May 1970 [16 May 1969] 23759/70 Heading D1F A yarn texturing nozzle comprises a body portion 16, a tube 17 inserted in the body 16 to define along the bore a yarn passage 18, a generally sector-shaped slot 21 in the tube 17 and extending in a plane transverse to the axis of the bore to define a cavity intersecting the yarn passage 18, a fluid inlet 20 made in the body 16 and communicating with the cavity 21 so that fluid enters non-radially, the cavity allowing fluid to become turbulent before contact with the yarn in the passage. The crosssectional area of the cavity is less than half that of the tube 17 at the location of the cavity. The passage 18 may have any crosssectional shape but is preferably circular. The fluid inlet 20 may be formed with a constriction upstream of the cavity. In a preferred embodiment the cavity extends substantially perpendicular to the passage axis, but the cavity may extend obliquely to direct the fluid in a generally downstream direction. The nozzle may be provided with two similar transverse cavities which may extend in the same or different directions. In use, a yarn is first heated and then passed through the texturing nozzle to which fluid is fed under pressure, and the textured yarn is withdrawn to be wound into a package. The resultant textured yarn may be bulky with or without residual twist torque.
