Abstract
1303189 Orienting bobbins ZINSERTEXTILMASCHINEN GmbH 3 June 1970 [12 June 1969] 26740/70 Addition to 1201955 Heading B8S [Also in Division D1] A modification of the bobbin orienting apparatus of the parent Specification comprises feed mechanism for successively supplying bobbins to the aperture having a length less than the length of the bobbin and width greater than the greatest width of the bobbin with the longitudinal axis of each bobbin parallel to the longitudinal centre line of the aperture, and cam mechanism movable transversely to such centre line to contact a bobbin at or near its larger end and push it longitudinally of the aperture so that it falls through the aperture with the larger end leading. In the operation of the apparatus shown, with a slide 210 (carried by a thrust-rod 212) retracted by a spring 213, Fig. 3, supplied empty bobbins 201 descend as a stack in a feed duct 200 with the lowermost thereof resting on a blocking face 240 of a section 224 and restrained by a bar 233. When a solenoid coil 219 is energized and an armature 216<SP>1</SP> drawn therewithin, the slide 210 advances so that a lifting section 222 isolates the lowermost bobbin from the stack. If the bobbin rests on the face 240 so that its narrower end does not rest on the support intended for it (but could drop directly into a delivery duct 203 when this is opened) one of two advancing cam edges 245 adjacent to the wider end of the bobbin correctively urges the bobbin on to such support face; in any case, continued advance of the slide causes the appropriate cam edge 245 to shift the bobbin linearly (in the direction of arrow 232) until it is located above the near side of a drop aperture 225 which has meanwhile moved over the inlet aperture 225<SP>1</SP> so that the bobbin 201, with its larger end leading, drops into the duct 203. The slide advance is arrested by a stop (not shown), coil 219 is de-energized and the slide restored by spring 213 with the aperture 225<SP>1</SP> again blocked by section 224 which receives the next bobbin through the now unobstructed outlet from the duct 200 in readiness for orientation. The blocking section may be omitted if the base portions of the orienting chamber 202 at the sides of the aperture 225<SP>1</SP> can reliably support the opposite ends of the bobbin. According to another modification (not shown) the blocking section, not provided with an aperture 225, serves only to close and open the aperture 225<SP>1</SP>.
