1308577 Coin collecting mechanism GNT AUTOMATIC AS 23 June 1971 [6 July 1970] 29384/71 Heading G4V A coin collecting mechanism particularly for coin operated telephones, comprises an inclined coin shoot 6 for storing coins of equal size in a row, and a movable flap 8 provided along the line of the coin shoot with a plurality of fingers 13, 15 disposed at intervals corresponding to the diameter of the coins, the uppermost finger 15 being normally disposed on one side of the coin shoot and the remaining fingers being separately adjustable to normally penetrate into the coin shoot from the other side thereof to act as coin stops, and a coin detector 21 situated between the uppermost and adjacent lower finger. On movement of the flap 8 away from the coin shoot as by a solenoid (18) (Fig. 2, not shown) the finger 15 enters the shoot and the lower finger 13 acting as a coin stop is removed from the shoot, allowing coins located between these fingers to fall through an opening normally closed by a portion 12 of the flap, but retaining coins located upstream of the finger 15. The number of coins collected on each movement of the flap depends on which of the lower fingers 13, which are preferably bendable lugs projecting from the edge of the flap (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) is adjusted to penetrate into the coin shoot. The coin detector 21 is preferably of the inductive type comprising two coils situated on one-side of the coin shoot and may be used to control the energization of the solenoid (18).
