Abstract
1302614 Polymer compositions for absorbing laser radiation AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 19 Feb 1970 [18 March 1969] 8090/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division G2] The following compounds are used as absorbers, incorporated in plastic filter compositions for protecting the human eye against the adverse effects of laser radiation:- (A) 1,4,5,8 - Tetracyclohexylaminoanthraquinone. (B) N,N,N<SP>1</SP>,N<SP>1</SP> - Tetrakis (p - dibutylaminophenyl) - p - benzoquinone - bis - (imonium hexafluoroantimonate). (C) Tris - (p - diethylaminophenyl)aminium hexafluoroantimonate. (D) N,N,N<SP>1</SP>,N<SP>1</SP> - Tetrakis (p - diethylaminophenyl) - p - benzoquinone - bis - (imonium hexafluoroantimonate). (E) Tris - (p - dibutylaminophenyl)aminium hexafluoroantimonate. (F) Bis - (p - diethylaminophenyl)[N,N - bis- (p - diethylaminophenyl) - p - aminophenyl]- aminium hexafluoroantimonate. (G) 2 - Hydroxy - 4 - methoxybenzophenone. (H) 2,2<SP>1</SP> - Dihydroxy - 4 - methoxybenzophenone. (J) 2-(2<SP>1</SP>-Hydroxyphenyl)-benzotriazole. (K) 2-Hydroxy-4-octyloxybenzophenone. (L) p - Methoxy - benzylidene - malonic acid, dimethyl ester. (M) 1-Phenylazo-naphthol-2. The absorbers can be incorporated into resins such as polymethyl methacrylate or polyvinyl chloride together with other additives such as plasticizers and stabilizers, e.g. zinc stearate. They can also be added to methyl methacrylate syrups, optionally with other additives, which syrups are polymerized in cells using azobisisobutyronitrile initiator. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,033,914 and 1,069,951.
