Abstract

1302305 Cutting ALF COOKE Ltd & G HADDOCK 10 June 1971 [9 Dec 1970] 58350/70 Heading B4B [Also in Division B6] In a method of, and apparatus for forming hinges in carton board, two spaced, parallel creasing rules having rounded edges are used to form each hinge. The rules 40 may be clamped in a forme 18 between knives 34, 36, 38 so that when a board is placed on the forme which is then reciprocated underneath a smooth arcuate platen 30, the board is cut into smaller sheets and the hinges are formed simultaneously. The platen may be planar and reciprocate up and down in synchronism with reciprocation of the forme. Rubber blocks 48 may be used to push the cut sheets from the knives and rules.
