Abstract

1302097 Rotary pumps H VOGELSANG 31 March 1970 [21 Jan 1970] 15271/70 Heading F1F In a pump of the Root's blower type for e.g. pumping liquid mud or sewage, the two intermeshing rotors are of figure-eight shape and have an outer surfacing 30 of elastomeric material supported on a rigid hub comprising a hollow sleeve 31 connected to a pair of diametrically opposed cylindrical members 32, 33 whose height is less than the thickness of the rotor, the pump having an unrestricted inlet opening 27, Fig.2 (not shown) to ensure agitation of the pumped liquid. The surfacing 30 may be keyed to the members 32, 33 by means of pins 38, and may have projecting portions 39 in the regions of mutual contact to facilitate sealing. The rotors are mounted on vertical axes in a pump chamber immediately below and sealed from a gear section which may be filled with lubricant. The pump is connected to a motor by a telescopic driving- shaft.
