Abstract
1301898 Fracture supporting bandages G EY 21 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 60587/70 Heading A5R A supporting bandage 3 for a fracture, more particularly for veterinary purposes, comprises an inner layer 4 of a soft flexible material, preferably of dressing wadding, gauze or soft foamed plastics material, surrounding a part of a body to be treated, on an outer tubular member 5 of a tear-resistant flexible material, preferably of a P.V.C. foil, arranged in spaced relationship to the inner layer 4 forming a tubular gap therebetween. One end of the gap is closed by a binding of adhesive tape 6, and the reaction components of a hard, foamed, cold-setting polyurethane are placed in the gap via the open end, hardening to produce a layer 7. Prior to the insertion of the reaction components and the closing of the end by the tape 6, a wire 8, looped at its end portions 9, is placed between the layers 4 and 5 near to the inner layer 4, the wire facilitating cutting of the bandage after use. The layer 4 may be impregnated with a medicant.
