Abstract

1301654 Liquid dispensing apparatus AVERY-HARDOLL and BECK & CO (METERS) Ltd 15 Jan 1970 [20 Jan 1969 11 Nov 1969] 3182/69 and 55148/69 Heading A4T In liquid e.g. petrol blending apparatus, the blend selection cannot be altered during dispensing without switching off the pump motor and possibly deactivating other parts, e.g. register gears, by means of an interlock. Rotation of shaft 24, Fig.2 via gearing 26-30 alters a blending meter or balanced valve device 33 selecting e.g. either of two fuels or one of three mixtures thereof, the exact position of the shaft being determined by roller 36 entering a notch 34 in rotatable disc 32. The roller rides on the disc edge when the blend is changed and its movement out of the notch turns crank 42, 38, 44 and lever 48 to lower rod 52 to switch off, via a differential mechanism, a micro-switch controlling the pump motor, the switch only being switched on again by the main on/off control. Levers 55 are also turned to disengage contrate gears 58 from the calculating apparatus to prevent damage during blend selection. In Fig.6 rotation of notched blend selection disc 70 lifts roller 88 on to the disc edge and via sprung lever system 92, 98, 100, 120 raises nose 122. The pump on/off switch shaft 126 carries cam 128 with stops 130. When the pump is switched off, the cam permits nose 122 to move upwardly and therefor disc 70 to be rotated. If the roller 88 does not properly engage notches 86, then nose 122 engages stops 130 and prevents the pump being switched on. Cams 132 also act on arms 136 to disengage the contrate gears when shaft 126 is rotated to the off position.
