1363059 Delivering measured quantities of liquid G BASTUBBE [trading as INTERMAT] 6 April 1973 [8 April 1972] 16617/73 Heading B8N [Also in Division B1] A mixing and drawing-off device for beverages comprises a metering device in the form of a horizontal hollow rotary valve 2 rotatable in a casing 1 from a filling position in which a flavouring inlet aperture 16 coincides with a top inlet 7 in the casing to an emptying position in which an outlet aperture 17 coincides with a bottom outlet duct 14 leading to a mixing chamber 9 having a water inlet duct 11 controlled by a valve 10 and a beverage outlet duct 13, the valve being opened to introduce water by means of a control surface 18 on the rotary valve when the latter is moved to the emptying position. The device may also include an air valve 23 which opens when the rotary valve 2 is moved to the emptying position to pass air into the metering chamber 4 through an inlet 21 and an inlet (25) provided in the rotary valve, Fig. 4 (not shown). A further valve 12 may be provided in the beverage outlet 13 and, like the valve 10, may be moved to its open position by a cam surface 19 when the rotary valve 2 is moved to its emptying position by a handle attached to a shaft 3. The flow of water through the mixing chamber 9 lasts as long as rotary valve 2 is held in its emptying position so that the amount of water can be varied. Instead of water a flavouring liquid may be introduced into the mixing chamber 9 through the valve 10. If desired, the valves 10 and 12 may be solenoid operated under the control of a switch operated by a control surface on the periphery of the rotary valve.
